Washington football held on for victory in a low-scoring battle in Pac-12 After Dark action in Corvallis. What did we learn from the Huskies’ win?

7. 832. Final. 19. 818

On Friday night at Reser Stadium, Washington took down Oregon State 19-7 on a defensive night in Corvallis. The two teams took the field sporting nearly identical records, something that was not something anyone anticipated happening before the season got underway. It speaks to the divergent turn of fortune experienced by the two Pac-12 North opponents as they met up in Week 11.

Entering the weekday showdown, it was the Beavers and not the Huskies that had the better record in Pac-12 play. What has been a surprisingly strong season for Oregon State has taken on a different flavor in Seattle, where Washington is playing out the string on a disappointing season. Chris Petersen’s team entered the year with expectations of contending for another Pac-12 title, while Jonathan Smith’s Beavers were not expected to come anywhere near bowl eligibility.

With the win, Washington earned their sixth win and ensured a trip to the postseason. While they won’t be headed to a New Year’s Six game, much less one of the two College Football Playoff semifinal contests, the Huskies still get to extend their bowl eligibility streak to 10 years. Here are three more things we learned about Washington from their close call in Corvallis.
