. . . Tua Tagovailoa. 3. player. 829

Tua will not win the Heisman Trophy. It’s that simple. All he can fight for at this point is a trip to New York. He had a good performance in the second half against LSU, but his turnovers in the first half, his injury, and the lack of a strong defense made the win unattainable for the Tide.

This was Tua’s chance for his Heisman moment. In the game of the year, against his toughest opponent, coming off of an injury. It was the perfect storm if he could pull it off. He just didn’t make it happen. He had a good stat line, but it was going to take a win and the stats.

Tua also had two turnovers that killed him and the Tide. They weren’t even great plays by LSU. The fumble was an absolute blunder, and the interception was a bad read at a terrible time during the game. All of that being said, this shows how thin the margin of error it is for the Heisman Trophy. If Alabama recovered the onside kick and Tua threw another touchdown for 50+ yards, he would be the frontrunner. Those are crazy plays, but it only takes two plays to change the entire college football landscape.
