Jalen Hurts is the only man with any chance to jump Burrow and take home the Heisman Trophy, and he doesn’t really have much of a chance himself. He has a lot working for him, but I don’t think it’s going to be enough.

Jalen is in the same situation that Kyler Murray was in last year. He’s doing everything right on his end, and he’ll be there if the frontrunner does something to lose it. Tua’s injury lost him the trophy last year, and Hurts has to hope that some bad performance from Burrow gives him a chance.

One thing that hurts Jalen (no pun intended) is that he doesn’t necessarily have a major challenge in front of him to prove himself. The Sooners have to play undefeated Baylor, but that’s not necessarily a major challenge. They don’t have a tremendous defense, and the Sooners will be favored heavily.

Jalen’s story is one thing that is working in his favor. It’s almost like business. It takes a lot to educate the consumer on a new product, but it’s easy to remind them of something that’s already in their mind. While Justin Fields and Joe Burrow had to fight for people to think of them as top-tier quarterbacks, we already knew what Jalen Hurts could do. His story makes it easy for you to want to vote for him, and his performance on the field only helps his case. The only thing that works against him is the player at No. 1 in the rankings.
