Pac-12 Football Power Rankings, Week 12: The end of the Mike Leach era?
By Kyle Grondin
What a depressing show for the Cougs, they’ve lost 5-of-6 in Pac-12 play, and like I said in the introduction, it seems clear that Mike Leach is looking towards his next job.
This team is depressing to watch, and still cannot defend anyone after Jalen Thompson left for the supplemental draft. I didn’t think Cal could score on anyone, and they dropped 33 on this team. Tough time to be a Cougar fan, and I’m not sure how it gets better if Leach leaves.
Just when we thought Stanford turned the corner, they lay an egg to Colorado. A combination of eight penalties and 3-10 third down conversions derailed the Trees in this one, and now they have back-to-back must win games to secure bowl eligibility this season, at Washington State and home to Cal. This was the best chance the Cardinal had to win, and blew it at the end.
A big win for the Buffs, and Colorado is out from the bottom of the Pac-12 abyss for now. It was hardly pretty, but this was the best defensive performance of the season for Colorado. Colorado was the more disciplined team, and will need to take that into future games. Now they just need to wake up Steven Montez.
