The Baylor Bears and Oklahoma Sooners are on a collision course for the Big 12 football title game. Here are your power rankings for this week.

The Big 12 is like a gauntlet match. You have to go through everyone. It’s difficult to get up for every single game. The beauty of the conference is if you can win it, you can say, “I’ve beaten everyone.” No other conference champion can say that.

That being said, it’s not always the best when it comes to playoff time.

The committee might shrug off the round-robin aspect of the Big 12, and think that a team like Baylor — which has two double-overtime wins — just isn’t very good instead of thinking about how difficult it is to run through every single team in your conference.

Enough of the serious stuff; let’s go to headquarters.

As we helped prepare Scooner and fed Bevo, we did think about the Big 12’s chances in the playoff. As we sat around and made Tom Osborne laugh, things got serious when we started talking playoff.

Do you really think they’d leave an undefeated conference champion out of the final four? Bill Snyder and Osborne sat back in their chairs, and looked at Barry Switzer who stared, knocked back a single malt whiskey and bellowed, “Not if those dang Bears hang half a hundred on my Sooners twice.”

We don’t know if that’s possible, but no one here at Big 12 power rankings headquarters wants to see two teams from the same conference in the playoff — again.

So on to the Big 12 power rankings.
