3. Texas (at Iowa State)

No matter what anyone tells you, Texas is absolutely, positively not back! The Longhorns enter Week 12 with a 6-3 record and somehow are ranked at No. 19 in the country. There are a handful of other teams in the country with one or two losses that are incorrectly ranked lower.

The Longhorns’ losses have come to LSU, Oklahoma, and TCU. Most people’s initial thoughts are “these teams are pretty good”. I would agree. However, let’s not forget about their wins. Texas beat Kansas by two points — at home. The same Kansas team who lost to Coastal Carolina in Lawrence. The Longhorns also only beat two other opponent by less than a touchdown. This team could easily by 3-6.

The point I’m making is that Texas is inconsistent. And, inconsistent team don’t perform well on the road late in the season. Iowa State (5-4), whose four losses are by a combined score of 11 points, welcome the Longhorns in Week 12. You heard that right, 11 points. And those loses are to good teams. Their losses are to No. 20 Iowa, No. 13 Baylor, Oklahoma State, and No. 10 Oklahoma.

There’s zero chance Texas survives this game.
