Big Ten Football Power Rankings, Week 12: Minnesota makes statement
Well the Rutgers Scarlet Knights did not lose for the fourth time this year but this non-loss comes from their second bye week. They might as well take this week off as they welcome Ohio State in to town. If Rutgers keeps Ohio State below 60 points, it should be counted as a moral victory.
It has been a terrible year for the Northwestern Wildcats, one that they are ready to move on from, bury and leave in the past like it never happened. The Wildcats close out their non-conference schedule this week against UMass. The Wildcats should get the win, but who knows, they also weren’t supposed to be 1-8 at this point in the season.
The Maryland Terrapins were great in their non-conference schedule. But the Terrapins have been humbled by their big brothers in the Big Ten and have officially been eliminated from making a bowl game this season. The Terrapins are off this week but finish the season with Nebraska and Michigan State, giving Maryland something to build on entering 2020.
It’s sage to say that almost everyone jumped the gun on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who sit second to last in the Big Ten West standings. But the Cornhuskers still remain alive in their quest for a bowl game. They will have to win two out of their last three games, with one of those wins coming against Wisconsin or Iowa.
