The Indiana Hoosiers take on No. 9 Penn State football in Happy Valley at high noon on Saturday. Here are three bold predictions.

Break out the Hoosiers. Indiana hasn’t been ranked in 25 years, and have the opportunity to end the season in the top 25 for the first time since 1988. They are playing like Gene Hackman is giving every pregame speech. Seriously, head coach Tom Allen has the Hoosiers playing well.

Any time you have an upstart-like season, there’s a measuring stick game. For Indiana, this is their measuring stick game. The knock on the Hoosiers is they haven’t defeated a team with a winning record this season, and that won’t start when they travel to Happy Valley.

Penn State can come into this game one of two ways. They can come in ornery and angry ready to pounce on a Hoosier team that’s good, but not near their level, or they can come into this game moping around feeling sorry for themselves since they didn’t take care of business against Minnesota.

If there’s anything the Nittany Lions have going for them, it’s the simple fact that Beaver Stadium will be packed and loud even for a noon game against Indiana.

The Hoosiers come in to this game 14.5-point underdogs on the road, and they are over-matched. Penn State is the better team with the better players, but the Hoosiers are playing with a ton of confidence. This one should be fun, and here are three bold predictions to prove it.
