3. Jalen Hurts’ Heisman hopes

After an incredibly electric start to the season, Jalen Hurts‘ case for the 2019 Heisman Trophy has slowly dwindled. Even through the first five games of the year, Hurts was right next to Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa as the favorites for the trophy. After a win against Texas, Hurts had a signature victory that would support the resume.

But, as the ridiculous stats dampened, and the Sooners lost to Kansas State, his chances to win reduced significantly.

Oklahoma nearly lost to Iowa State a week ago, which was the exact opposite of what Hurts needed. In this game against Baylor, Hurts’ turnovers are one of the precise reasons why the Sooners lost. He was responsible for three turnovers, two fumbles and an interception. One of the fumbles was just prior to him rushing in for a touchdown late in the third quarter, which would have put Oklahoma only one score behind.

After this game, Hurts’ Heisman hopes are almost completely gone. The race belongs to Joe Burrow of LSU and Justin Fields from Ohio State.
