Georgia had the opportunity to seal up their spot in the SEC Championship Game when they headed west to The Plains for a Week 12 date against Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.
The No. 4 Bulldogs hoped to maintain their top-four position in the College Football Playoff selection committee’s Top 25 rankings for another week, and they did just that after holding on for a 21-14 victory on Saturday evening.
Kirby Smart’s team opened up a big lead, then held on for dear life as Auburn tried to come back from their biggest deficit of the season. Bulldogs fans held their breath as the Tigers tried to crush their dreams before the end of November.
While momentum seeped away from Georgia in the late comeback rally that ultimately fell short, it raised some questions about what transpired away from Athens.
