3. Jake Fromm was inefficient but effective

It was by no means the most impressive statistical performance that Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has ever posted as the Bulldogs starter. But while Fromm wasn’t bolstering his spot in the national rankings or improving his passer efficiency rating, he was nevertheless effective at guiding the offense downfield and keeping the pressure on Auburn.

Fromm finished the night with just 110  passing yards as he completed 13 of his 28 attempts to finish below 50 percent in completion rate. While the numbers were by no means eye-popping, Fromm did throw for three touchdowns to help guide the Bulldogs to the big win on the road.

It has been the kind of season that raises plenty of questions in Athens. Did the Bulldogs stick with the right quarterback when they let Justin Fields get away to Ohio State? On Saturday afternoon on the Plains, Fromm didn’t necessarily dispel those question marks.

What Fromm did do, however, was guide Georgia to another victory. It wasn’t the most efficient of performances, but it was incredibly effective at putting points on the board. The Bulldogs didn’t need the quarterback to try to do too much, and what he did do was more than enough to put the Bulldogs in position to stay in the College Football Playoff race in a tough road test.
