Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win vs. South Carolina
By Shelbie Warr
1. Defense won this game for the Aggies
Yes, there were touchdowns put up in this one by Kellen Mond and his offense, especially in the second and fourth quarters.
However, we have to give it up to the Aggie defense for this win for sure, holding South Carolina to all of six points. Three of those points came after a fumble that set up the Gamecocks in the red zone, but otherwise, a first-quarter field goal was all the Aggies allowed South Carolina to put together.
The Gamecocks only converted two first downs and one fourth down. They only had 260 total yards throughout the game, in comparison to the Aggies over 500 yards of offense.
This defense is going to have to put together something of the same caliber against Georgia and LSU in the coming weeks, but for now, they should be proud of what they put together in this matchup for sure.
