The latest College Football Playoff rankings have been released and there were some interesting moves by the committee. Who are the biggest snubs?

We are inching closer to playoff time. College football fans are getting a good sense of who will be playing for the national title this season while the rest of the New Year’s Six is also taking shape.

On Tuesday night, the committee released its latest College Football Playoff rankings and made some questionable decisions. The top four weren’t all that surprising with LSU remaining No. 1, Ohio State at No. 2, Clemson still No. 3 and Georgia in the fourth spot. Alabama is No. 5 but the loss of Tua Tagovailoa might just derail their hopes regardless.

Those weren’t the controversial rankings, but others really stood out and caused the scratching of heads and pointing of fingers.

Who were this week’s biggest snubs.

3. Cincinnati Bearcats (No. 17 down to No. 19)

This one was a little puzzling to me and I think the committee is in the business of “if you’re not blowing out inferior opponents, you don’t deserve respect.”

And that’s OK.

Cincinnati is on an eight-game winning streak after losing to Ohio State earlier in the year and Luke Fickell has done a tremendous job. Did his Bearcats deserve to drop a couple of spots after beating South Florida by just three points? Probably not, but the committee valued Iowa’s win over Minnesota just enough to drop them and they fell behind Memphis as well.

That might not seem like much but now the Tigers are the highest-ranked Group of Five team in line for a New Year’s Six bowl.
