2. The Irish did it better

Philosophically, both the Eagles and the Irish want to do the same thing on offense and defense. Both teams want to run the football with physical running backs — A.J. Dillon for the Eagles and Tony Jones Jr. for the Irish.

They aren’t dynamic on the perimeter, but they like to throw to their big wide receivers on slants and crosses. Kobay White is the big-bodied receiver for Boston College and Chase Claypool is target No. 1 for Notre Dame.

Defensively, they play rock-solid team defense. The difference between the Irish and the Eagles on defense is that Notre Dame has some flat-out studs on defense. Boston College has had their struggles on defense this season as well.

Today, Notre Dame played that style better than Boston College. The Irish dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides, and were able to force both turnovers and three and outs all game long. Boston College simply didn’t have the athletes to compete with Notre Dame today.
