2. Jack Coan comes out strong for Wisconsin at quarterback

The above photo is only somewhat a joke, as it speaks volumes that one can be a legendary Wisconsin quarterback by simply putting the ball in a talented running back’s belly and letting him do the hard labor. But Jack Coan is so much more than just a steady hand to take snaps, as he showed once again in an efficient performance against Purdue.

Coan finished the day 15-of-19 for 203 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. His 192.9 pass efficiency rating was the highest posted by Coan in Big Ten play this season. The only times this year Coan posted better efficiency ratings were in wins over Central Michigan and Kent State, and while impressive in their own right the Badgers are never striving to win the MAC.

Coan did take several sacks over the course of the game, but by end he lost fewer than 10 yards on the ground as a result of the takedowns. Able to step up in the pocket and get the ball distributed quickly, Coan found six different receivers over the course of the game against the Boilermakers.

Quintez Cephus led the way with five catches for 79 yards and a receiving score. Jack Dunn also caught the first touchdown pass of his Wisconsin career on an 18-yard scoring strike from Coan. He was able to pass into tight windows and get the ball where it needed to go, exactly what Wisconsin needs from their quarterbacks.
