4. Colorado 20, Washington 14

Colorado (5-6) managed to keep its postseason hopes alive with the late-night 20-14 win against the Huskies. The Buffaloes had lost nine straight to Washington, with the last win coming in the 1996 Holiday Bowl. Of the last seven Washington wins in the series since 2011, five were by 24 points or more.

That narrative changed this season, however, as the Huskies dropped to 6-5. Colorado engineered a long, fourth-quarter drive to eat enough clock and preserve the win. Quarterback Steven Montez finished with 223 passing yards and one touchdown in the victory.

3. Rice 20, North Texas 14

Rice makes its second consecutive appearance in the “Best Upsets of the Week” rankings, this time upending in-state conference rival North Texas. A week after achieving their first win of the season, the Owls jumped to a 20-0 halftime lead before holding on to defeat the Mean Green.

Rice (2-9) will now face hapless UTEP in the season finale for both teams. If the Owls can defeat the Miners, it will mark the first time since 2014 that the program has won three consecutive games in a season. Not bad for a team that began 2019 with nine losses in a row.
