2. Florida International 24, Miami 20

Not many predicted that Florida International, 20-point underdogs, would pull off the win against the Miami Hurricanes. Miami carried a three-game winning streak into this crosstown rivalry game, having beaten Pittsburgh, Florida State, and Louisville to reach a 6-4 record prior to Saturday.

Instead of a fourth straight ‘Canes win, though, it’s the Panthers who are doing the celebrating. For a team with losses to Tulane, Western Kentucky, and Middle Tennessee, it’s nice to notch a program-defining victory near the end of the 2019 season.

1. Arizona State 31, No. 6 Oregon 28

Many prognosticators gleefully looked forward to a 2019 Pac-12 championship game that would feature two one-loss teams, Utah and Oregon, each with a chance to insert itself squarely into the College Football Playoff with a conference title. After Saturday evening’s 31-28 loss to Arizona State, though, those dreams have largely ended for Oregon.

The Ducks rallied after falling behind 24-7 in the fourth quarter to the Sun Devils. Justin Herbert, who threw two costly interceptions earlier, connected with wideout Johnny Johnson III (10 catches, 207 yards, two touchdowns) several times late to keep the Ducks alive.

An 81-yard bomb from quarterback Jayden Daniels to Brandon Aiyuk, though, was enough to clinch the Sun Devils’ upset win. It’s only Arizona State’s second win in its last 13 meetings with Oregon.
