1. LSU Tigers (No. 1 down to No. 2)

Since the playoff rankings came out a few weeks ago, LSU has been a mainstay atop the poll. That changed in Week 14’s rankings as the Ohio State Buckeyes unseated the Tigers.

The Tigers are coming off a blowout win over Arkansas in Week 13 and it didn’t seem to impress the committee, maybe because they didn’t put together a complete defensive effort. That’s something Ed Orgeron has been frustrated with this season is his talented defense not living up to the hype and constantly blowing assignments or playing down to opponents.

Still, LSU might have the best resume in the nation and the Buckeyes’ Week 13 win over Penn State wasn’t the most impressive, especially because they had a meltdown in the second half which nearly allowed the Nittany Lions to make a comeback.

The Tigers will still get a chance to prove themselves as the No. 1 team in the nation against Texas A&M this week and then again in the SEC title game.
