We redefine the term “Clemsoning” and sneer at another bad loss for Miami in this week’s ACC football power rankings.

Does anyone remember when Clemsoning was a term coined when the Tigers and their head coach Dabo Swinney couldn’t win the big one? We sure do.

After a 6-7 season in 2010, the Tigers began a run of 10-win seasons that has lasted nine years. Impressive, sure, but when was the termed singed into the college football lexicon in 2007 that aptly described how the Tigers were heartbreakers. The Tigers would be loaded, and invariably lose a key game that dashed either national title aspirations or a New Year’s bowl.

Then 2015 happened. They made it to that championship game and lost, but they finally made it to the dance. This was their first of four consecutive playoff appearances including two national championship trophies.

Here at headquarters we were fully ready to drop the term “Clemsoning” from the college football lexicon with our P-46 space modulator and replace it with something more befitting an elite football program like Clemson. Then an intern muttered something about a conversation with his cousin that plays for the Texans. We didn’t pay attention because we don’t allow interns to speak.

Unannounced to us, the greatest Clemson Tiger of all time Deshaun Watson walked in and demanded we use the same P-46 space modulator to re-brand the term “Clemsoning.” We when picked our jowls off the floor and wiped our awestruck tears from our faces, we said, “Yes sir, we will accept the mission.” Watson commented about us doing too much and walked out of headquarters.

So, “Clemsoning” is when you are four touchdowns or better than anyone else in your conference and go out on the field and prove you are that better than your opponent.

We recognize the drama in the Coastal is entertaining, and we are looking forward to the Commonwealth Cup knowing the winner is going to play for the ACC Championship. We also recognize that the Tigers are Clemsoning everyone in the ACC because they play a different class of ball.

With that being said and all due respect to the “Rivalry that Really ain’t”, also known as “The Textile Bowl”, here are your power rankings for Week 13.
