As Big 12 football heads toward its title game the question everyone wants to know is, will it have representation in the College Football Playoff?

Eight years ago, 2011 was a bleak year for the Big 12. We looked around at our Big 12 memorabilia. Our stuffed Buffalo, we cried at our autographed picture of Tom Osborne. We lamented over rivalries lost: Nebraska vs. Oklahoma, Texas vs. Texas A&M, Nebraska vs. Texas and Colorado/Nebraska.

We asked ourselves, what good can come of this? But there was some good. The good that came out of the dissolution of what used to be the Big 12 is round robin play. Everyone plays everyone; no ducking and no waiting a decade to play a team that’s your equal.

With the round robin format you have to bring it each and every week, or you get got. Ask Oklahoma when they went to the little apple about getting-got. This any given Saturday makes the Big 12 look as if they don’t have an elite team. They do, it’s Oklahoma, but the equity among the rest of the conference makes the Sooners look sub-par in contrast to an Ohio State or Clemson. That simply isn’t true.

Let’s hang half a hundred on ’em and get to the rankings for this week.
