It was a tight one as expected in Starkvegas. Here’s three takeaways from the annual Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State football.

This was a tight game throughout, and it was as advertised. The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels laid it on the line in the annual Egg Bowl. This was a huge one in Starkville for the Bulldogs as a 21-20 win means a bowl berth.

The Rebels simply wanted to play spoiler against their hated in-state rivals.

This one went down to the wire, and had quite the finish. The Bulldogs, up by a touchdown, picked off quarterback Matt Corral, but gave the ball back to the Rebels. On fourth-and-forever, Corral found Braylon Sanders for a 57-yard pass. After a series of penalties by both teams, Corral found Elijah Moore for a touchdown but he got flagged for excessive celebration while imitating a dog urinating on the ground.

Mississippi State decided to take the penalty yards on the extra point instead of the kick. Rebels kicker Luke Logan missed the extra point, and they couldn’t recover the onside kick. What a win this was for the Bulldogs.

Here are three things we learned from the 2019 Egg Bowl.
