Baylor Football: 3 takeaways from blowout win over Kansas in Week 14
2. The run game actually has a pulse
All season, we’ve seen Charlie Brewer step up to lead the offense with the run game chipping in every now and then, but Saturday afternoon proved that the rushing attack actually has a pulse.
On the day, the Bears ran the ball 47 times and averaged about 6.0 yards per touch, picking up 263 yards on the ground. They also had a whopping seven rushing touchdowns in a game where Brewer didn’t play his best and had just one passing score.
Kansas couldn’t seem to slow the Bears down on the ground as JaMycal Hasty had 92 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries, Trestan Ebner had six carries for 80 yards and a score, Gerry Bohanon had a rushing score as did Qualan Jones and Jacob Zeno.
If the Bears can add this element to their offense on a consistent basis, they’re going to be incredibly difficult to stop in the New Year’s Six ranks.
