1. This team is for real

Baylor’s hot start to the season was met with plenty of optimism. And then they took a 28-3 lead over Oklahoma in the first half of a game at McLane Stadium a few weeks ago which caught everyone’s attention before coming back down to earth in the second half.

There was still doubt after the Bears’ tight loss to the Sooners, but they have managed to finish the regular season with an improbable 11-1 record and a trip to the Big 12 title game.

What does that mean? It means that any remaining doubt in the Bears will be put to the test as they will face the Sooners in the conference championship game. If Baylor beats Oklahoma in a rematch, not only will it earn respect on a national level, but it might even get some looks from the College Football Playoff committee.

Baylor was ranked No. 9 in the country heading into Saturday’s game against Kansas, but the style points in the 61-6 win help.
