Georgia Football: 3 takeaways from blowout rivalry win over Georgia Tech

3. Georgia had major turnover issues against their state rival
Entering their rivalry game against the Yellow Jackets, Georgia boasted one of the best offenses in the country at protecting the football. Through their first 11 games of the regular season, the Bulldogs ranked third in the FBS in turnovers lost. Jake Fromm threw only four interceptions, and the Georgia offense lost only four fumbles all day.
Fromm put in a solid performance in victory as he avoided throwing any interceptions against Georgia Tech. The quarterback also held on to the football when he kept it in his hands, suffering only one sack over the course of the game.
Fumbles, however, were a major issue on Saturday for the Bulldogs as they regressed to the mean in that department. They nearly doubled their total in lost fumbles after coughing up three to the Yellow Jackets in Week 14 on the road.
The first came on a punt return that Dominick Blaylock coughed up, leading to Georgia Tech’s only touchdown of the day. D’Andre Swift was responsible for the other two fumbles, as the running back had an uncharacteristic case of butterfingers against a key rival. Georgia needs to hope they were merely getting the bottled-up turnovers out of their system ahead of the SEC championship against an LSU team that will be more likely to make them pay for giveaways.
