2. Indiana had the talent advantage

This was a close game because of Purdue’s scrappy culture, but Indiana had the talent edge in this game. The Hoosiers, led by head coach Tom Allen have recruited at a high level, and it showed itself on the field.

Even if Purdue came into this game healthier, Indiana still has the talent advantage on both sides of the field. They had the edge at the skill positions. Ty Fryfogle and Whop Philyor are the bell cows for the Hoosiers; Fryfolge was quiet in this one, but Philyor had a big game with eight catches. Indiana’s No. 3 receiver, Nick Westbrook, had a big day with five catches.

This team is a testament to Tom Allen and his ability to recruit. This is the high-water mark for the Hoosiers, and they were better on paper than Purdue. That’s something you don’t hear everyday.
