Utah football needed a win over Colorado in the season finale to lock up a Pac-12 title game berth and potential playoff spot. What’d we learn?

It’s often said you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. The Utah Utes had an opportunity to make a statement on the national stage against the USC Trojans in Los Angeles back in September. The Utes responded with playing their worst game of the season committing 16 penalties and surrendering 368 yards to the Trojans and third string quarterback Matt Fink.

After the loss it was out of sight, out of mind for the Utes. They were relegated to #Pac12AfterDark or the Pac-12 Network. Despite dominating everyone after their loss to the Trojans, the Utes were an afterthought.

The Utes did get another chance to make an impression and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Utah’s dominant win came on a weekend when the Alabama Crimson Tide lost and a week after Oregon fell to Arizona State. The Utes thrashed the undermanned Buffaloes dominating them on both sides of the ball, 45-15.

Are they playoff-worthy? Well that’s for the committee to decide.

Here are three takeaways from Saturday night’s game.
