3. South Alabama 34, Arkansas State 30

In South Alabama’s final home game in midtown Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium (home of the annual Senior Bowl, among other things), the Jaguars won their first Sun Belt Conference game of the season and improved to 2-10. Their only other 2019 win came against Jackson State, an FCS opponent. South Alabama, which moves into an on-campus stadium next year, entered as a 15-point underdog.

The Red Wolves fell to 7-5 after the disappointing effort. Though receivers Jaylen Tolbert of the Jags and Omar Bayless of the Red Wolves traded highlight catches throughout the game, Arkansas State failed on fourth-down conversion attempt while leading 7-0. The Jags responded with two consecutive scores before clinching the game with a late touchdown in the fourth quarter.

2. Virginia 39, No. 24 Virginia Tech 30

The Hokies hoped to send off longtime defensive coordinator Bud Foster with a win and a spot in the ACC championship game against Clemson. Virginia, though, ended those hopes behind quarterback Bryce Perkins, who threw for 311 yards and rushed for 164 more.

Cavalier fans stormed the field after seeing their team stage a dramatic comeback. Virginia trailed 27-20 entering the final quarter before outscoring the Hokies, 19-3.
