The Wildcats are interesting. Both Sawyer Smith and Terry Wilson will return next season, so on the surface it would seem that the Wildcats wouldn’t need a quarterback.

However, if there’s one thing that’s been missing from the Wildcats offensive arsenal is the downfield passing game. Neither Wilson nor Smith are accomplished downfield throwers. Feleipe Franks isn’t always the best decision maker with the ball, but he has the arm talent to push the ball down the field.

Franks transferring to Lexington is contingent on what the Wildcats want to do offensively. We know they have the horses in the stable to run the ball, and with a healthy quarterback it stands to reason that Lynn Bowden Jr. goes back to wider receiver.

The Wildcats could make better use of Bowden in the pass game with a quarterback that can get the ball down the field. Wilson is more suited for the Wildcats offense because of his ability to run but Franks can do some of the option read stuff as well along with pushing the ball downfield.

Franks would have to compete, but once Mark Stoops and the Wildcats’ offensive staff see him throw, he could win the job.
