Blitz Podcast: College football’s Black Monday and championship week
By Zach Bigalke
The podcast returns to discuss action from the weekend, college football’s coaching carousel, and break down championship games against the spread.
November is complete, and the 2019 college football regular season is in the books. Every year we anticipate the start of the season for months through winter, spring, and summer. Late August arrives, and we pour our energy into requited fanaticism that once again has a productive outlet on the gridiron.
For the past three months, the Saturday Blitz Podcast has enjoyed the pleasure of getting to talk about the games, break down the action ahead, and talk about drinks and snacks for game day.
Then, all too soon, this point arrived. The season is complete, and for many fan bases there is no more football left to play for another nine months. For some coaches, the end arrives all too soon, and programs start looking in a new direction for their next leaders.
A lucky group of 20 still has championship week to play, though, the opportunity to wear the conference crown within reach. There is one full week left to the season before we prepare for the Heisman ceremony, the Army-Navy Game, and the looming postseason.
As a result, there is a lot to talk about in the Saturday Blitz Podcast this week.
Tune in above or download this week’s episode as we look at all of the storylines that have popped up over the week.
The first segment dives into a look back at the big wins, the heartrending losses, the major surprises, and the top individual performances of Week 14 over the final weekend of November. After the first break, we turn our attention to the job openings across the country and who might fill the vacancies.
The last two segments of the podcast focus on each conference championship game. We break down the Power Five games against the spread, then turn to the Group of Five championships in the final segment before closing up shop with thoughts on what to eat and drink while gorging on the gridiron action.
