Oklahoma State football suffered a disappointing end to the 2019 regular season. Which bowl game is now the Cowboys’ most likely destination?

Oklahoma State’s regular season ended with its fourth loss in a frustrating 34-16 setback to its Bedlam rival, Oklahoma. Even with an underwhelming finish, the Cowboys (8-4, 5-4 Big 12) bettered last season’s win total while breaking in a first-year starter at quarterback and suffering several key injuries.

The loss of All-America wide receiver Tylan Wallace and of redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders were blows to OSU, but that didn’t prevent the team from extending a four-game winning streak by beating West Virginia in Week 13, 20-13. This season will count as head coach Mike Gundy’s 14th consecutive postseason appearance with the Cowboys.

While sorting out potential bowl destinations for the Cowboys, the biggest question for the Big 12’s postseason tie-ins is whether OU or Baylor will advance to the College Football Playoff with a victory over the other. That will determine which team ends up in a New Year’s Six Bowl, and then the pecking order of which bowls will invite which Big 12 schools.

On the surface, OSU appears to be in the same pool as Iowa State, Kansas State, and Texas, as all four programs finished with an identical 5-4 conference record and have been ranked in the Top 25 at some point this season.

Where is OSU most likely to end up for a 2019 bowl game?
