Oklahoma State Football: 4 possible 2019 bowl game destinations
By John Scimeca
4. Alamo Bowl (San Antonio, Texas) – Dec. 31, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
OSU has played in the Alamo Bowl four times, the first being a 33-20 loss to Purdue in 1997 and the most recent being a 38-8 win against Colorado in 2016.
Many forecast that USC will be the Pac-12 team invited to play in this year’s Alamo Bowl. Though for much of the game’s history this was a Big 12 vs. Big Ten matchup, the Pac-12 supplanted the latter in 2010.
3. Liberty Bowl (Memphis, Tenn.) – Dec. 31, 3:45 p.m. ET, ESPN
The Pokes played in their first-ever Liberty Bowl last season, defeating Missouri 38-33. The Liberty Bowl has been played since 1959 but has only regularly featured Big 12 teams since 2012.
In this bowl, OSU would likely face an upstart American Athletic Conference foe such as SMU, Memphis, or Cincinnati, depending on who wins the AAC championship game this weekend. A matchup against the resurgent Mustangs would be an interesting one: OSU and SMU have met 11 times, with the last three meetings being OSU blowouts during the Les Miles era.
