The SEC Championship is set with two of the top four teams in the nation. Almost everyone is on LSU football to win this one, but can Georgia keep up?

LSU football is set for the SEC championship after their most successful season since 2011. Ed Orgeron, Joe Brady have transformed Joe Burrow and this offense into one of the most high-powered attacks in the country. LSU has been viewed as a national championship contender for the majority of the season, and now takes their talents to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Bulldogs as they battle for the top seed in the playoffs.

Georgia has had an up and down year, but mostly positive. They took care of business behind a stout defense that holds nothing back. Any disappointment from the Bulldogs this season has been on the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Jake Fromm has been inconsistent most of the year, and hasn’t made the leap Georgia fans were hoping to make.

Regardless, Georgia sits at No. 4 in the country, and takes on No. 2 LSU in one of the most anticipated games of the season.

Keys to Victory

For LSU, the keys to victory is more of the same from the offense. Joe Burrow has to be able to open up this Georgia defense who hasn’t had a lot of issues shutting down offenses in the past.

Georgia is the No. 4 defense in the country for a reason, but the Tigers offense is on another level that the Bulldogs have never seen before. If the Tigers can get some of their big plays to work in this one, they should roll to victory.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, have to win this game ugly. They need long possessions to give their defense as much rest as possible, and they need to score on their long drives. Similar to how NFL teams have started to play the Kansas City Chiefs, Georgia needs to keep Burrow off the field as much as possible.

The defense needs to do exactly the opposite of what LSU’s offense needs to do. Based on what we’ve seen this year, I’m not sure there is a way to really stop LSU, but they can’t get beat for big plays. If LSU is getting 20-30 yards at a time, the Bulldogs will get run off the field. The offense won’t keep up. But if Georgia can keep LSU in front of them and maybe even force a few field goals or turnovers, Georgia can win this game ugly.

Prediction

With this game coming closer, it really seems like this game will be down to how Georgia’s defense can handle LSU’s offense. In my opinion they might do better than most, but it may just be a slight dent in the LSU armor. The Tigers are a freight train now, and Georgia just seems like the next team in the way.

I don’t think Georgia is one of the four best teams in the country, and I think they get beat in this one as Joe Burrow has another big afternoon, and win the SEC Championship.

Prediction: LSU 38, Georgia 17
