1. Cotton Bowl

This is the most likely destination for Notre Dame if they get to the New Year’s Six for a simple/cynical reason: money. The Cotton Bowl makes the most sense for the Irish because they travel well. The Cotton Bowl is in Arlington, and any member of the Group of Five will travel well, but there’s nothing wrong with the Notre Dame bump.

As it stands, there are three teams currently in the running for the Cotton Bowl: Memphis, Boise State and Appalachian State. We know the highest ranked Group of Five team gets the bid. Of these three teams, the Mountaineers would travel the worst because of their size as a university. Memphis should travel best because of their proximity and Boise State would be somewhere in the middle.

With so many teams ahead of the Irish in the rankings and the potential matchups with the other New Year’s Six bowls, the Cotton seems like the best option for the Irish especially if they want to fill up Jerry World.
