4. Oklahoma (12-1)

With Utah losing on Friday night, the most likely team to make the final four would be the winner of the Big 12 Championship Game. Oklahoma and Baylor had treated us to a football frenzy when the teams met earlier in the season. If Baylor could avenge their loss, they could make it in and continue their fairy tale 2019 season.

It wasn’t to be.

The Bears played the Sooners hard last night, taking the game to overtime, but came up short in a bruising encounter. Rhamondre Stevenson’s 5-yard touchdown run, on the opening Oklahoma overtime drive, gave the Sooners a 30-23 win.

The Sooners will make it in to the fourth spot in the College Football Playoff over the Georgia Bulldogs based on several factors.

Firstly, their record. At 12-1, with just the surprise loss to Kansas State on their resume, they have the one game advantage over Georgia. As per usual, there will be the argument of quality of opposition, but Georgia’s loss to South Carolina counts against them here.

Secondly, the eye test. We hear the phrase “the eye test” thrown around a lot during the College Football Playoff conversation. For me, it’s simple in this conversation. Would you rather watch Oklahoma or Georgia?

It’s going to be the Sooners. Every time.

Jalen Hurts has been incredible to watch. CeeDee Lamb is a game changing receiving threat. Historically, the defense has been an issue, but this season they’ve shown great improvement, especially from the likes of Kenneth Murray. The linebacker has been a tackling machine once again.
