Right before it was officially announced that Lane Kiffin would become the next head coach at Ole Miss, the controversial leader guided FAU to the Conference USA title with a 49-6 blowout of UAB. Kiffin will also leave the new C-USA champions sitting in the final College Football Playoff Top 25 after the Owls reached 10 wins before the postseason. After the rest of the results on Championship Saturday, the Owls will bump up into one of the last spots in the rankings.

Chris Robison threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns, and Florida Atlantic had nearly 600 total yards of offense as a team. The Owls defense held UAB to 223 yards when they had the football and kept the Blazers out of the endzone all game. It was an impressive performance on both sides of the ball that allowed FAU to walk away decisively as the best team in C-USA this season.

Now the Owls will wait to see where they land this postseason. With or without Kiffin guiding the program, Florida Atlantic proved itself worthy of a spot in the College Football Playoff rankings when the selection committee releases their final Top 25 of the 2019 season on Sunday.
