FanSided 250: Wisconsin football fandom was ranked too low

One of the most passionate fanbases in all of college sports was ranked slightly too low by FanSided 250. Where does Wisconsin football actually rank?

When you think of the hottest fanbases in college football, one that has to come to mind is Wisconsin. Badger fans are some of the most passionate in all of sports and they were ranked No. 237 in the latest FanSided 250.

However, when you look at that ranking compared to other college fanbases, it seems as if the Badgers were snubbed, big-time.

The Badgers were ranked slightly ahead of Nebraska (No. 238) but behind the likes of North Carolina A&T, Miami, Oregon, Kansas and Kentucky.

While some of those are ranked ahead of the Badgers because of their basketball prowess (Kentucky and Kansas), Wisconsin might be the most well-rounded fanbase when it comes to both basketball and football. Not many schools care about both sports as much as Wisconsin does and that’s what makes Badger fans so unique.

Usually when football season is over, fans of Miami and even Oregon just do a countdown until next football season while tuning into their basketball team in March when they do well.

Not with the Badgers.

Wisconsin fans fill the Kohl Center in the winter after providing one of the best home-field advantages at Camp Randall Stadium in the fall. The fourth-quarter “Jump Around” tradition is one of the best in college football and opposing teams usually find it to be daunting.

There’s a reason playing in Madison is one of the toughest tasks in any sport and while that has to do with the Badgers being solid in both sports, it also speaks volumes to one of the hottest fanbases around.
