The Bahamas Bowl is one of the first bowl games of the season. Besides the fact that is played in the Bahamas, here are three more reasons to watch.

The Bahamas Bowl has been set and Charlotte and Buffalo will be headed to paradise for one of the first postseason games of 2019.

Why should everyone tune in despite the tame matchup?

3. Charlotte’s first bowl game in program history

First-year head coach Will Healy has the Charlotte 49ers in their first bowl game in school history. The 49ers’ first year in Conference USA was in 2015 and before that they spent two years playing independently in the FCS as they were preparing to move to the FBS.

Brad Lambert was the school’s coach during each of those years and was let go after the 2018 season. During that time period they had a 22-48 record.

Healy has helped lead the 49ers to a 7-5 record overall and 5-3 in conference play. He has brought a lot of excitement to the program and the schools has something to be proud of. If you haven’t heard of “Club Lit”, it is something you should check out on twitter or ask a Charlotte fan about. The locker room of the 49ers is turned into “Club Lit” after each home win. It’s worth looking up videos of it as it is great seeing a coach celebrate with his players and genuinely having a good time.

Charlotte will do their best to keep Healy around for as long as possible as he is already becoming a name that bigger schools are keeping track of.
