Blitz Podcast: College football’s 2019 bowl preview double feature

This week’s Saturday Blitz Podcast offers two full hours of bowl previews as we look at every college football game from Dec. 20 through New Year’s Day.

Now that we are into December, all of the conferences have crowned their champions. Last weekend Navy took home the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy, Joe Burrow cleaned up at the Downtown Athletic Club, and the 2019 college football regular season was officially put into the books. Rather than looking back in this week’s Saturday Blitz Podcast, though, we are taking all our time this week to look ahead at the bowl picture.

With 40 games on the docket this season — 41 if you count the College Football Playoff national championship — there is a lot to digest around the holidays.

The Saturday Blitz Podcast will be taking the final week of December off this year, so this week’s edition does double duty in a four-part bowl preview.

The games are rapidly approaching, with the first bowls taking place Friday. Getting right to it, we break down the first 35 of the 41 games on the docket this season. From the Bahamas Bowl between Buffalo and Charlotte through the Sugar Bowl matchup pitting Georgia against Baylor, there is a lot to discuss in this week’s podcast.

Working through the bowl calendar in chronological order, the podcast breaks down the games as follows:

• December 20-21 bowl games (0:00-21:32)
• December 23-27 bowl games (21:33-51:43)
• December 28-30 bowl games (51:44-1:24:02)
• New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day bowls (1:24:03-2:01:06)
