2. Rose Bowl

No. 6 Oregon (11-2) vs. No. 8 Wisconsin (10-3)
Wednesday, Jan. 1 (5 p.m. ET)
Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

Pick: Oregon +3

The “Granddaddy of Them All” features a very exciting matchup between two of the better non-playoff teams this season. Oregon narrowly lost to Auburn to open the season, and they have to want that game back after being upset by Arizona State in Tempe to knock the Ducks out of the playoff race. Wisconsin is led by all-time great running back Jonathan Taylor and seems to be the second-best team in a very deep Big Ten.

Both teams should be elated to be here, as each program has taken a fall recently: Wisconsin was 7-6 just last year, and Oregon is two years removed from a 7-6 season themselves. Watch the offensive lines in this game, because these are likely the two best lines in the country, led by future pros Tyler Biadasz and Penei Sewell.

Oregon should have the momentum entering this game, coming off a spoiler victory over Utah in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Quarterback Justin Herbert would like to emulate Daniel Jones’ Independence Bowl performance from last season to improve his NFL Draft stock.

Wisconsin’s elite offensive line had extreme trouble with Ohio State’s Chase Young – look for Oregon true freshman pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux to have a night in Pasadena as Oregon covers the field goal spread.
