Texas A&M football’s season continues in the Texas Bowl as the Aggies take on Oklahoma State. Why should everyone tune into this one?

Texas A&M had one of the toughest schedules in college football this season and they get rewarded with another ranked team in the Texas Bowl.

Oklahoma State, on the other hand, can’t seem to remain healthy with guys like Tylan Wallace and Spencer Sanders going down with injuries during the season, but the Cowboys are still ahead of schedule.

Why do you need to tune in to the Texas Bowl?

3. Former Big 12 matchup

This reason seems obvious. The Aggies and Cowboys use to play each other on a consistent basis when the Aggies were still in the Big 12. The last time the Aggies played Oklahoma State was 2011, their last year in the Big 12 before moving on to the SEC. The Aggies have the better record in the series overall as they are 17-10 all time against their former Big 12 foe.

However, Oklahoma State dominated the series late in the Aggies’ Big 12 career as they have beaten the Aggies the last four times they played each other.

While many fans were hoping that this bowl matchup would have been between Texas A&M and Texas, the fact that the Aggies still play an old Big 12 team is a good storyline to follow.

Since the Aggies have gone to the SEC, they have had one season with double-digit wins in those seven years and that was one of the years Johnny Manziel was at quarterback. Honestly, their records have been similar to when they were in the Big 12, so not much has changed. They always seem to be on the cusp of making the next step as they have finished with at least eight or nine wins five of the past six seasons.

The Aggies will be looking to finish with eight wins this season again as they will be trying to avoid finishing 7-6. The Cowboys finished the season with eight wins and would love nothing less than to beat the now SEC-based Aggies and finished with nine wins.

This bowl game matters and the winner of this game will be off to a good start to their offseason.
