Notre Dame Football: 3 reasons to watch Camping World Bowl vs. Iowa State
2. Brock Purdy vs. Notre Dame’s defense
The sophomore quarterback for Iowa State burst onto the scene last year as a true freshman to help lead Iowa State to an eight-win season. The Cyclones currently sit at 7-5 on the year and will be trying to get to eight wins for the third straight season, an impressive accomplishment for Iowa State.
The success of the Cyclones as of late is largely due their stud quarterback, Brock Purdy.
Purdy had a few inconsistent games, but for the most part his play was stellar and he had Iowa State in every game, including the games they lost. He only had one game the entire season where he didn’t throw for a least 200 yards, which was the last game of the year in a loss to Kansas State.
Purdy boasts a 66 percent completion rate on 445 attempts while throwing for 3,760 yards as well as rushing for 265 yards. He has a total of 35 touchdowns on the year, 27 through the air and eight on the ground. He also has 9 interceptions on the year, with three coming in one game against Oklahoma State in a loss.
The sophomore quarterback has a good arm with great pocket awareness and good accuracy. He is a good athlete with the ability to escape pressure and hurt the defense with his legs if need be. His performance against Oklahoma where he had six total touchdowns was one of the best of the year despite the loss. He will look to have another big game if they want to beat Notre Dame.
