The College Football Playoff is here. LSU football takes on Oklahoma. What do the Tigers have to do to find their way to the championship?

The LSU Tigers take on the Oklahoma Sooners vying for a spot in the National Championship. Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow takes on Jalen Hurts and the Sooners. Can the Tigers pull off a big win and head to the Championship? What has to happen for that to come to be?

Let’s talk keys to victory, shall we?

3. Playing with — or without — Clyde Edwards-Helaire

There is a big cloud looming over the Tigers as they are unsure whether running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be able to play. Coach O seems very sure that Edwards-Helaire will give it a go, but it is unsure how much of a go he will be able to give it.

Edwards-Helaire ran for 1,290 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, so his production would be missed for sure. A hamstring injury is something that could be worse than previously thought, so we may be looking at backups Tyrion Davis-Price and John Emery Jr. who, while good, aren’t Edwards-Helaire.

This offense, led by Heisman winner Joe Burrow, will have to step up in his absence if it comes to that on Saturday. It does help that they have some of the better receivers in college football in Ja’Marr Chase, Terrace Marshall and Justin Jefferson. That will help, but an offense becoming one dimensional during the most important games of the season is not going to end well.

Those two back up running backs will be important.
