Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from Texas Bowl win vs. Oklahoma State

2. The Aggie defense deserves an MVP trophy
Yes, Kellen Mond did great things in this game, including running in for the touchdown that put the Aggies ahead. However, we have to talk about the defense.
Yes, they allowed Oklahoma State to go ahead 14-0 in the first quarter. But, after that, they shut down Oklahoma State and didn’t allow them to score again until there was one minute left in the game. That is something that has to be talked about.
I didn’t give this unit much hope with Justin Madubuike sitting out the bowl game. He was the most important player on this defensive line. Then when multiple guys went down with injuries- though they came back in — I had my doubts even more so. However, this unit changed the game and was a major part of the win for sure.
Congratulations to this young unit on pulling off a win.
