Washington football quarterback Jacob Eason has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Here are two reasons it makes sense (and one why it doesn’t).

This past Thursday, two days after Utah State quarterback Jordan Love officially entered the NFL draft, Washington junior Jacob Eason has officially declared for the NFL draft. He took to twitter to officially announce.

According to ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper, Eason is the No. 4 rated quarterback in this year’s draft class. He’s behind Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa. That puts him either late first, or early second round based on what first round teams need.

However, we know it only takes one team to fall in love with him throwing in shorts for a team to reach and take him — see Jake Locker, EJ Manuel and Christian Ponder.

Everyone hopes for the best, but drafting a quarterback is a crap shoot at best. For every Peyton Manning there’s a Ryan Leaf; for every Matt Cassell there’s a Justin White. You just don’t know until you see the plan executed.

Only time will tell if Eason made the right decision forgoing his fifth year, and going to the draft. Here are two reasons it makes sense, and one reason it doesn’t.
