Florida Football: 3 reasons Lorenzo Lingard would be a perfect fit
Miami running back, and former five-star prospect, Lorenzo Lingard has announced his intention to transfer and Florida football would be a great fit.
After missing his freshman season at Miami with an injury, former five-star recruit, and Orange City, Fla., native, Lorenzo Lingard announced he would be entering the transfer portal.
This gave instant hope to college football teams looking for that next elite running back to lead the backfield, but chances are he will be staying close to home. He was recruited by the likes of Florida State and Florida out of high school, but the Gators seem to be the better and most logical fit of the two.
Why would Lingard be a good fit with Florida?
3. Chance to play with cousin
While he hasn’t committed anywhere yet, four-star safety Avantae Williams, who happens to be Lorenzo Lingard’s cousin, decided not to sign in the early period and has just scheduled an official visit with the Florida Gators.
Williams is scheduled to hit Gainesville on Jan. 24 before National Signing Day and that could be the visit that seals the deal for him. What would make it even more crucial of a visit is if Lingard decides to transfer to Florida before then. Heck, he could even wait to transfer until after his cousin decides.
This may not be the deciding factor in Lingard’s decision, but the chance to team up with his cousin closer to home would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Lingard could be the star of the offense while Williams could work his way into the rotation in the defensive backfield as a top-60 recruit. Right now his recruitment seems to be between Miami, Florida, Ole Miss and Georgia. Only one of those schools seems possible for Lingard.
