It’s Big 12 versus Pac-12 as Texas football and the No. 11 Utah Utes tangled in the 2019 Valero Alamo Bowl. Here are three takeaways.

The Texas Longhorns gave the Big 12 conference their first bowl win of the season after thrashing the No. 11 Utah Utes 38-10 in the Valero Alamo Bowl.

Texas running back Keaontay Ingram had arguably his best game as a Longhorn running for 108 yards on only 13 carries. Junior quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw three touchdown passes as Texas beat Utah in every phase of the game.

Despite having neither a defensive coordinator nor an offensive coordinator, Texas looked like the better prepared team. Head coach Tom Herman — who had a large hand in the offensive game plan — made sure his team was ready to dominate the Utes upfront.

Utah could not stop the run game of the Longhorns, and could not get their running game going offensively. Texas pressured Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley all game long.

There were times the Utes didn’t look like they wanted to be out there. Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham looked frustrated by his squads lack of discipline and execution at times on the sidelines.

Congratulation to the Texas Longhorns and their Alamo Bowl victory. Here are three more takeaways.
