For the second year straight, the Georgia Bulldogs are in the Sugar Bowl and this time against Baylor football. What do you need to know?

We were all sure last season that Georgia would win this one, hands down. That, of course, didn’t happen as the Longhorns blew past the Bulldogs. Is it Baylor’s turn to do just that? The Bulldogs are down over 10 players, many of which are starters and that could spell their undoing. Now, a team that was already struggling offensively is down quite a few players and has a question or two to answer.

On the other side, you have Baylor who has two losses — both to Oklahoma who found a home in the College Football Playoff again this year. Is Baylor ready for the SEC, no matter how depleted the Georgia Bulldogs are?

Keys to Victory

For Georgia, Jake Fromm and his offense have to run like nothing has happened and no one is missing. Of course, that is easier said than done for sure. Between injuries and guys sitting out due to the NFL, the Bulldogs are out at least 10 if not more players and on top of that what does Georgia really have to play for here? Last season, it was the same case of not making the playoff and being in a New Year’s Six bowl. Will they care?

Is Charlie Brewer ready to go for the Bears? Does he have what it takes to fight off that defensive front of the Bulldogs? The Baylor Bears are the more complete team right now for sure, but the Big 12 — outside of Texas — hasn’t had the best showing so far this bowl season. The conference sits at 1-4. It’s up to the Bears to change that.

Prediction

I’ve got the Bears in this one and I am not sure it’ll be close with how depleted Georgia is. Many people will disagree with me, stating that Georgia still has the leg up on talent in this one, but I’ve got faith in Brewer and the Bears.

Final Score: Baylor 20, Georgia 10
