A promising season ended on a sour note as Utah football was unable to hang with Texas in the Alamo Bowl. What’d we learn from the Utes’ loss?

This isn’t the way Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss expected to go out. A loss in the Alamo Bowl 38-10 to an average Texas team was not only disappointing but heartbreaking to watch.

Utah started the regular season 11-1 and finished with consecutive losses by a combined score of 75-25 in the Pac-12 title game and Alamo Bowl which overshadowed an impressive season by Kyle Whittingham and Co.

Not only that, but the Utes must now find replacements at quarterback and running back with both Huntley and Moss graduating after putting the Utes on the map.

Utah will move forward without Huntley and Moss, but 2020 could also be special.

3. An improper send-off

As stated previously, it was tough to watch Utah struggle to end the season and the careers of Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss who have given so much to the program.

Both guys could have left Utah after last season, most notably Moss who was coming off yet another 1,000-yard campaign, but decided to return and get healthy enough to lead the Utes to the Pac-12 title game and a potential playoff berth.

With an 11-1 record and a shot at Oregon in the title game, Utah was close to reaching that goal, but laid an egg against the Ducks, losing by 22, and then doubled down on that ugly finish to the year with a 28-point loss to Texas.

Unfortunately, fans are going to remember the end of the season more so than the 11-1 start which is not what Huntley and Moss deserve after incredible careers.
