His career may have been cut short due to injuries, but Tua Tagovailoa’s decision the 2020 NFL Draft instead of coming back for his senior season is the right one. Loved by many people, even non-Alabama football fans, what Tagovailoa did not only the Crimson Tide but for college football as a whole, was incredible.
Coming in as a five-star quarterback from Hawaii, nobody thought what he would do at Bryant Denny Stadium would be so impactful. Sweeping the nation not only with his play, but with personality, effort, and determination, Tagovailoa was a generational college football player that we will never get to see play again.
From the time he stepped foot on the field during the 2017 national championship game to the soul-crushing injury he suffered at Mississippi State, everything Tagovailoa did amazed people. Playing through injuries, playing with his faith on his sleeve, and flat out dominating teams was special to watch. For most of the games he started in, he did not even finish them as he ran up the score so high that risking his health was not worth it.
Some have speculated that head coach Nick Saban has never enjoyed coaching a player more and you can see that when he begins to start speaking about Tagovailoa and what he meant to the program.
