Matt Rhule accepted a seven-year, $60 million contract to be the next head coach of the Panthers. Here are some coaching candidates for Baylor football.

There aren’t enough words to describe what Matt Rhule did for the Baylor football program. In just three short seasons, he guided a team from 1-11 to 11-3 and a Sugar Bowl appearance. Along the way developing diamonds in the rough into NFL level players.

Rhule cleaned up the Baylor program in the wake of the Art Briles scandal. It remains to be seen if he set unrealistic expectations for the next coach, but Baylor is a contender in the Big 12 for at least the next two or three seasons because of his coaching. He parlayed this success into an opportunity to coach in the NFL.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Matt Rhule signed a seven-year, $60 million dollar deal with the Carolina Panthers. This leaves a huge void in Waco. What direction do the Bears go in finding their next head coach?

This coaching search is a bit more delicate than the usual suspects. Waco is a unique place and Baylor University a unique school. They are private with a culture all its own. Baylor has to be careful who it chooses to succeed Rhule if it doesn’t want to undo all he accomplished in those three years.

Here are some possible candidates to replace Rhule.
